Over the summer, Open Source Education volunteers teach classes in various programming languages and other fundamental topics for completely FREE!

The Intro to Python class is perfect for elementary and middle schoolers that are just starting in their programming journey. The class covers the fundamentals kids need to know for all programming languages and Python specific syntax. Students will learn all of the fundamentals in the first week and will work on optional more advanced concepts and a project in the second week. One project will be chosen to be featured on our website.

Intro to Java is a core class for middle schoolers looking to pursue computer science. The class covers fundamental Java topics and is perfect for getting a head start for AP Computer Science A which uses Java. The first week will cover the fundamentals of Java while the second week will be used to teach optional advanced topics and work on a large project. One project will be chosen to be featured on our website.

Intro to Web Development is perfect for students with an interest in Computer Science who want to create innovative projects. The class covers the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web Deployment. The first week and a half will cover the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript by making a personalized portfolio project, and during the remaining time we’ll delve into deploying and publishing the project. One project will be chosen to be featured on our website.
